raz adjustable tension backrest (2008)

I was responsible for designing an adjustable tension backrest for all Raz Rehab Shower Commodes. The final design took into account the fact that individuals with (various) disabilities have a need for additional support in a backrest. Many wheelchairs offer adjustable backrests in the form of upholstered foam in front of shaped blocks that can be manipulated with Velcro, based on the user's need. There are many reasons why this backrest design is less than optimal for a shower context.
